For Patients Ovarian Cancer
Cancer - many diseases under one term.

Ovarian Cancer

The diagnosis of a malignant ovarian tumor (ovarian cancer) is a great physical and psychological challenge for every patient.

Most cases of ovarian cancer occur randomly (sporadically). In many cases, a disease-causing hereditary predisposition can be detected. Among the hereditary predispositions that have been known for an extended period of time are the so-called breast cancer genes BRCA 1 and BRCA 2. We can determine whether a hereditary form of ovarian cancer is present by examining the genetic material. We only need a simple blood sample for this examination. Additional tissue removal from the tumor is not necessary.

More Information

In the case of the hereditary form of ovarian cancer, genetic testing is important because in a positive case, for example, the risk of breast cancer and the occurrence of malignant tumors in the other ovary may also be increased. Furthermore, information about the genetic status of a patient is also important for other family members (e.g. biological children or siblings).

Please seek our genetic consultation for advice.

We can test affected patients to determine whether they have a genetic predisposition to developing breast and ovarian cancer! Both diseases belong to the same group of forms, i.e. they can also occur in different family members depending on the family.
